Sergeant Bluff native and Iowa pitcher Daniel Wright was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the 10th round. Wright had 20 strikeouts in his 18 appearances for the Hawkeyes last season and posted a 3.41 ERA. Prior to his time at Iowa, he played at Houston for two seasons.

Obermueller, a lefty pitcher from Iowa City, Iowa, was selected in the 19th round of the 2024 MLB Draft by the Texas Rangers. Rather than join the MLB ranks, though, he decided to instead come back to Iowa City. That was a great decision.
