During the pandemic, the council designated the third Wednesday in July – also known as National Hot Dog Month – as the day to celebrate the American classic.

Street cart hot dogs are made differently than how your average backyard barbecue, kitchen skillet, or even restaurant hot dogs are cooked up.

In total, hot dog sales amass $1.16 billion during hot dog season, the council estimates, with approximately 818 hot dogs consumed per second.
