Today’s forecast: Thunderstorms will become numerous in the late afternoon and evening. Some of these storms could have a brief severe wind gust. We are also looking at another burst of storms Saturday and then hot weather kicking in next week.

Strong to severe storms will move in during the afternoon and last through the evening. Strong winds, ping pong ball-sized hail, and isolated flooding is possible with these storms.

Slow-moving downpours are possible across portions of the Baltimore metro after 2 p.m. The chance of rain and storms increases further during the early evening hours. Strong, to severe, storms will organize over western Maryland late this afternoon and sweep eastward through the evening hours.

More storms to hit Maryland on Tuesday

Tracking another round of storms late Wednesday. Temps will be hotter this afternoon, helping to fuel the environment for thunderstorms. Dew point temps stay in the 70s this week, which means feels like temps will be in the 100s Wednesday and Thursday.

Another round of showers and thunderstorms is slowly moving across the Mid-Atlantic Tuesday evening, after intense rain set off dangerous flash flooding from Virginia to New York on Monday, leaving at least two dead and prompting dozens of rescues as water overwhelmed roads and subways.

The waterlogged US Eastern Seaboard braced for more rain on Tuesday, after flash floods snarled travel, stranded vehicles, and prompted emergency rescues.
